Generation of Microwatts of Green Light from an Optical Parametric Oscillator

Generation of microwatts of green light from a 1550 nm optical parametric oscillator by third-harmonic generation in a third-order nonlinear chromophore doped in polystyrene thin film.

Impact/Results:

Due to the microwatt levels of generated green light, an autocorrelator and a frequency resolved optical gating system could be demonstrated with a low cost Ocean Optics fiber spectrometer and an unamplified silicon detector for the diagnostic of short pulses at the telecommunication wavelengths.
