Graduate Student Internship Program

Graduate students have the opportunity to intern in a company doing work closely related to the research interests of the STC through the CMDITR Graduate Student Industrial Internship Program. Take advantage of the extensive network of industrial connections available to you through the Center and further your professional goals!

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be a graduate student participant of a CMDITR partner institution
  • Be in good academic standing
  • Have completed the CMDITR “Responsible Conduct of Research” (RCR) training

How to Apply

  • Talk to your advisor about the best timing for your internship.  In most cases, it’s best to wait until you reach candidacy, toward the end of your graduate work. It is a good idea to start this process as far in advance as possible.
  • Log in to the Members Only website to browse the list of posted positions to find a position that interests you.  If you don’t find the right position there, apply for the program anyway!  Internships may be 'custom' and we will try to help you locate something that works for you through our industrial network.
  • Log in to the Members Only website to fill out the online student application.  After getting initial approval from your advisor, we will provide you the information to contact the company directly.  Or, we will work with you to find a position.  It is important to understand that the application is not a binding contract. The company will have the final say on any hires, so we cannot guarantee a position will be found, and you do not have to accept a position you do not feel comfortable with.
  • Fill out an internship form upon receiving an offer from a company, have it approved by your advisor, then bring it to CMDITR management.
